The first importsnt thing about A Woman of Palor is her title.
On social media I follow a number of indigenous artists. One day I happened to read a comment that referred to Caucasion people as 'people of palor'. It made me laugh out loud because it is such a great description for people like me, burdened with the skin shade of a larva. So this magical old crone became the 'woman of palor'.
Second thing - Her face is set on a small wreath, if you look closely you can see it. One day I was walking my dog along a wooded trail and I came upon an old woman walking along doing something with her hands. I said,"Are you Making a wteath?"
"Yes", she said. "That's what I do. I make wreaths and then I hang them in tres. I'm always so happy when I come bck and see that someone has taken one home!"
We went on our separate ways but after that I watched very carefully for her work. And, to my great happiness I have found three wreaths hanging in trees, two of which are already incorporated into assemblages!
